The UNESCO-protected Danube Delta on the Romanian coast of the Black Sea is the second largest wildlife biosphere in Europe, and home to over 320 species of birds and a huge variety of fish & plants. It remains beautifully wild and undisturbed, allowing nature to thrive here.
The Delta is a wildlife-lovers paradise, and for those with an interest in photography it is a hidden gem: Home to pelicans, storks, cormorants, terns, and a host of migrating birds from the boreal forests and tundras from the north. Unsurprisingly, you will also find the largest number of fish species anywhere in Europe. Sustainable and carefully managed tourism are key to support the local communities of this region, who in turn promote re-wilding and protection of the area.
Single rooms are available on a first come, first served basis. We will charge on a pro-rata basis if a single room is only available for part of the trip.
We always choose accommodation based on cleanliness, comfort, safety, proximity to our route (to avoid unnecessary travel) and a warm client welcome as well as reliability in their service to us. We can only offer single rooms on a first come, first served basis. Single rooms will be available for a supplement of £65pp.
We fully believe in, and practice, Responsible Tourism and are using hotels run by locals. We put time and effort into building our relationship with accommodation suppliers to ensure you have a great trip.
If you need an extra night in Bucharest before or after your adventure, then please select this option when you book the adventure (online booking). You will be able to book a twin/double room (for 2 people) or a single room (for 1 person).
Supporting you on your holiday will be a local, English speaking Romanian guide, plus you will join a larger group under the care of a wildlife guide for your birdwatching boat tour.
We work closely with our Romanian Tour Operator partners both before and during your adventure to ensure that they understand your needs and the standard that YellowWood Adventures expects.
We believe that it is a very important positive aspect of Responsible Tourism, to employ the expertise of local suppliers, as well as offering you a much more informative and authentic experience.
As this is an optional ‘Add On’ to your main Romanian Adventure, it may be just a group of 2, or may be more, up to the maximum group number of 12.
We get clients booking alone, as couples and in small groups of friends. If you have a group of friends or family who are interested in having their own customised trip, then please let us know and we can cost it for you.
The focus of this holiday is a cultural and slow wildlife exploration. Any walking is at the natural pace of the group, with regular stops. This Danube Delta Add on will not be as energetic as your main Romanian Adventure.
This adventure dovetails beautifully with your main adventure and you will be picked up from your hotel to begin this new stage of your journey.
For your return journey following your Danube Delta 'Add on', you will be transferred to Otopeni Airport for your homeward flight, unless you have chosen to spend another night in Bucharest.
If you need an extra night in Bucharest after your time in the cabin, then please select this option when you book the adventure (online booking). You will be able to book a twin/double room (for 2 people) or a single room (for 1 person).
If you choose to spend an extra night in Bucharest, you may need an airport transfer to Otopeni, for your flight. The journey takes 25-35mins depending on traffic and will cost 50-70 Lei (approx 10-£15) to the city centre. You can use Uber or the hotel will be able to arrange a taxi for you.
Add-Ons are an optional way of customising & extending your adventure, and making those travel miles more worthwhile. They can not be purchased separately. To select an Add-On, please visit the relevant adventure and add it to your enquiry or booking. The adventures which offer this particular Add-On can be found below:
